Out here at Powerland Heritage Park, people collect all kinds of things. Beside the more commonly seen things like cars and motorcycles we have people who collect Caterpiller tractors and earth movers, logging equipment like chain and drag saws, and railroad equipment of all kinds. There are people who collect bench vises that weigh from a few pounds to over 350 pounds. Antique engines are a common collectible here, too - again, small ones to very large ones. But you should see the tractors and trucks around the facility. It is truly an impressive accumulation.
Powerland even ended up with a running steam powered saw mill, a reproduction 1950 Texaco gas station, and a 1905 farm house with a display of “amenities” of the time. There’s just so much stuff here that we struggle to keep it all organized. For us volunteers, though, that’s half the fun.
One of the organizations represented on campus even built a museum to demonstrate how Timberwolf dragsaws were made in Portland, Oregon. Another organization fills up the big engine building. Of course one of our antique tractor organizations built a museum to feature iconic John Deere tractors. Perhaps the most engaging exhibit couldn’t fit in a museum. The Willow Creek Railway is a 7 1/4 inch scale railroad where children and parents alike can ride and enjoy the scenery of the miniature countryside. It is quite the collection of a multitude of collectibles.
